A confrontation

“I promised that I would be there till the end.”

“I knew you would protect me..I knew you would protect me.”

“Don’t worry. There is no need to worry. Just let me get yo-“. A flash of green energy hit Foster right in the chest causing him to scream at the top of his lungs.

“I am disappointed in you Forsmith. I thought that you were strong enough to do what needed to be done. But instead you are protecting this..traitor?”

Forsmith turned to see that Sombra was right by the Barn house ready to tear both Forsmith and Foster apart. Enraged Forsmith spoke out “A traitor. He is just a young boy. He has a family. He deserved to live.”

“Did you forget what he did? That he was given a order to defend and he became a coward.”

“What do you know about order and duty? You have enslaved thousands and-“

“My slaves were used for a great purpose but what about the people of Britain? Foster could’ve saved them had he not deserted. Tell me how many did Foster enslave with his cowardness to die?”

Forsmith screamed in anger and charged at Sombra with his knife and suddenly the clear skies were covered with blood colored skies. The grass ignited in flames and the silence of the wind were conquered by the sounds of sirens and collective panic. Sombra stomped the ground causing a small earthquake forcing forsmith to fly back. Forsmith pulled out his gun and began firing at the tyrant. The fires around the barn grew in size and changed from a orange to a hot green. The clouds turned purple and from it came hail. None of it stopped Forsmith from trying to prove Sombra wrong. He thought of what Loma told him earlier that to be patient and march on was victory in of itself. When he first heard her say it he accepted it and with every piece of hell flying towards him he became stronger that was until he thought of his home and family.

He remembered his home of Inverness burned to the ground. It’s proud people now trying to survive the war. They searched without any sense of pride everywhere for the smallest amounts of food. Innocent men women and even children put to death by those who tried to restore order. All of the bad luck of which Forsmith thought that could’ve been prevented had Foster stayed loyal. Thinking of him in the dark ruins of his home under a fire made him resent how easy Foster got it. Foster didn’t have to suffer seeing the end of civilization, the end of his family or the destruction of everything his loved. Forsmith lived through a nightmare because he thought was because of hope. As he fought Sombra he began to believe that it was because Sombra was right.

It wasn’t hope but his knowledge that accepting his role as a soldier had kept him alive. Hope caused him to be reckless and only made things worse. It caused Foster to flee and caused unknown destruction which could’ve been prevented. It prevented Loma glass from seeing the clear picture of how capturing Sombra would create anarchy. And Forsmith like a child was fighting the truth. He obeyed orders and now when it mattered he was going to throw it all away? No..he did so much just to survive. Just for society could survive but did Loma or Foster appreciate it? No of course not! There was only one person who knew what must be done and it was Sombra. Shameful Forsmith lowered his weapon and turned around.
