Duty and shame

Epilogue

The documentarian looked up from her notes and saw the like the last other episodes that the viewership increased during the show. Nearly about to fall asleep she drank a bit of coffee and began her epilogue. “From that day forward Charles Forsmith swore allegiance to King sombra and the dark empire in hopes that no living creature could forget their place. Sombra tasked him with tracking down a artifact known as the key which was believed to turn the tide of the Equestrian Crystal war. However he failed to take it from the two royal sisters and for his failure he was taken into the future. There he would make alliances with the descendants of Loma Glass’s ideals which you would know them as the sunflowers. Forsmith allied with those who were convinced that the key would protect their organization and ideology from Equestria so they made a project to track it down. The efforts would take Forsmith to the second biggest war before the war that destroyed human civilization. They would force him to murder Artshine and his ideology to be questioned by Artshine’s own son. I managed to find this recording which tells the tale.”

Despite the poor audio quality Forsmith’s Scottish accent could be heard as long as a young male Equestrian accent could be heard.

“I know this is difficult to explain to you boy but everything I have done is for the world to be preserved.”

“Preserved? You aligned yourself with some tyrant from a thousand years ago so that you could enslave the world.”

“Humanity has proven itself it can’t be trusted with great power. Only those born with it know how to use it without blowing themselves up.”

“But still don’t you feel any bit of shame about lying to me about this. I thought we were fighting for a better future,”

“We are Boy. It’s just that we must be ready to pay the price for that.”

“Is that what you told my dad?”

“He was just like you and like fos-“

“Like who?”

“Like who?”

The tape grew silent until there was audible bumps and struggle. “What are you doing?!”

“This is for your own good boy. Sto-. Stop struggling.” That was the end of the tape and with that the Documentarian said a good night to the audience and ended the broadcast.
