Find Yourself

Chapter 1

I’m different, well that’s what I keep telling myself anyways over, and over again. Ponyville, a great, and beautiful town, filled with many ponies, and today’s the one rare day I’m visiting it. Other ponies avoid me if you could see the way I walk, you wouldn’t blame them. Well, but that’s what I want, and I want to keep it that way. I wear a black cloak covering my entire body, for personal reasons, not because it’s cold out. Whenever I’m around they keep staring at me, but I’m used to that. It’s the life I’ve chosen for myself. Because…well I’m different. The only reason why I even go to Ponyville is to buy food. I only stay as long as I have… Alice was so lost in thought that I tripped over a rock. When She looked up and saw a stallion with a dark shade of grey for a coat, and an even darker shade of grey.
“Here let me help you up.” he said as he raised a hoof to help me get back up. After she got up and shook off the pain he asked, “are you hurt?”
As Alice realised her current predicament she quickly grabbed my saddle bag and quickly ran down the road.

Alice is currently living in a little cottage at the base of a mountain. The scenery is very lovely, she has a clear view of a lake, and forests are everywhere. It is very, very far from Ponyville. The reason for her self-exile is because she’s missing a cutie mark. And no she doesn’t have a cutie mark on one side of her flank, and not the other side Alice is a blank flank, and at her age it’s too embarrassing. Alice only has one friend, his name is Comet, he is a baby phoenix. She found him lost, and alone in the everfree forest. The reason why she wears that cloak is to keep her cutie markless flank a secret. Her name is Alice Goldenfeather. Her coat is a tan sandy colour, and my mane is a lovely shade of brown.
“Peep.” said Comet, and I looked outside, “Wait, it’s dark already?! Huh, guess I was too lost in thought to notice.”
Alice ran to the front door with a huge smile on her face, “well let’s go!” she exclaimed.
They flew up through the clouds feeling the soft clouds hitting our faces. Comet rode on her back because he couldn't fly yet. They only fly at night, when nopony can see them. they wait all day for the evening moon, and everyponies asleep, the one time of the day where they are free. Alice was just about to go back to her cottage when she saw a bright blue light coming down from the ground. Alice didn’t know what she was thinking but she wanted to get a closer look at it. When they got to the ground, Alice crouched down behind a bush, and peaked above it, and what she saw was… a door.
Confused, and bewildered, Alice walked towards it, “what is this? Some kind of magic?” The door was half oval, and wooden, so there was nothing special about it. She opened it up and inside there were clouds, and bubbles everywhere. Wondering what this was, she walked through it and as soon as she was through the door it slammed shut, but when I thought it couldn’t get any weirder it got up on two legs, and two arms came out of it. It saluted, and then it ran away.
Not wanting to lose it Alice chased after it, but no matter how fast she flew the door was still faster. Until it stopped abruptly but she was going too fast to stop, and she crashed into it head first. she must’ve been unconscious because when Alice awoke she was on the ground. When Alice came too I noticed I was no longer in the clouds, but on the ground. But, the ground seemed different, it was solid but a lot of hill, and each hill was a different colour, a different pattern. As Alice looked around she could see houses floating up in the air, rocks, and boulders as well. She also saw a river, but not a clear water kind of river, but a brown river. As I looked closer and leaned over to sniff it, it smelled like…Chocolate!!
“Hmm, I wonder what it actually tastes like?” Alice asked myself.
“Oohh, why don’t you take a little sip?” Somepony asked me, but didn’t realise they were behind her so she jumped out of her coat. Her mane, and tail were on end.
Alice turned around and her blood ran cold, for the somepony she thought was behind me was really something! For its body was all mixed and matched, it had one dragon, and one pony hoof for feet, it had a long serpent body full of brown fur, one chicken leg for one hand and a dog's paw for the other hand. It had a long snout, a blue horn, and a deer's antler.
“How do I know that face…” Alice asked herself quietly, and then it came to me. She saw the exact face in stone a few years back when she went to Canterlot. “DISCORD!!” Alice yelled.
“In the flesh.” Discord said, “Now who has the pleasure of meeting me?” he asked, but Alice was already gone.
“Gotta find the door. Gotta find the door.” she kept telling myself as Alice ran away from him.
“Why don’t you stay a little longer?” he asked. Alice looked to my right and saw that he was flying right beside her…
WAIT!! I’m not running away, I'm running in place. I realised as I looked down and saw that she was on a treadmill.
“GET AWAY FROM ME!!” Alice shouted as she ran the opposite direction.
“Do you really think you can run away from me?” he asked, but when Alice looked to the right, and left of her, but couldn’t see him, but then realised that he was in her mane.
She stopped and backed up against a tree with her hoofs close to my chin, “by the way who are you?” Discord asked.
“A-Alice.” Alice stammered, “my name’s Alice.
“Alice you say?” he asked then he snapped his fingers and a tall blue hat appeared on his head, “looking for a new wonderland perchance?”
“No I…” She said shakily, “I’m so sorry, I accidentally stumbled upon your, umm, world when I went through a door. Please, let me go, I-I promise I won’t tell anypony about your secret world.”
“Let you go?” he asked, “no I don’t suppose I will, you found out about my world, and now you must be eternally punished!!” He said while making the world go darker, and darker.
“P-Please.” Alice begged, practically crying. Then it got bright again.
Alice looked around for Discord but couldn’t find him, then she felt something brush against my flank. Alice looked behind er and saw that Discord was playing tic-tac-toe on my flank.
“What in the world are you doing?” she demanded.
“Upupupup, hold on. I’m winning.” he said.
“How-how DARE you. First you steal my wings, and now you’re painting on my flank?” Alice asked, angrily.
“Well, it looked so blank, so I just thought I would give it some decoration.” he said. “You do look like a pony who needed cheering up anyways.”
“Oh, thank YOU so much. I’m sooo much happier now.” Alice said sarcastically. “Aren’t you the spirit of chaos? The lord of chaos? What are you up to?”
“Ahem, well I am, buuuut I’m reformed now. A while back actually.”
She stared at him to show that she didn't believe him, and he said, “would these eyes lie?” He asked, making his eyes wide, and as innocent as he could.
“Oh just forget it.” Alice said before smacking my hoof on my face. She turned away, her head drooping, with her ears down low, and tail low to the ground. “Just forget it, you can keep my wings. I hope you’ll have fun with them. Just…leave me alone.”
Alice heard his fingers snap, and then she saw my back started to glow, and looked back, I saw that my wings were returned, but that wasn’t just that, Discords head was in Alice’s flank, where her cutie mark should be.
“Better now?” he asked.
“Now don’t get me wrong, I’m grateful for my wings, but could you please get off my flank?” she asked.
“What didn’t you want a cutie mark to go with your new mane-do?” he asked.
“WHAT??! What did you do to my hair?” Alice demanded.
“Why don’t you look for yourself?” he said before making a mirror appear.
Alice looked in the mirror and he tied her tail, and mane back so it wasn’t a huge mess.
“But, why?” Alice asked, suspiciously.
“Just because you’re lonely doesn’t mean that you let your hair down, if you don’t like yourself then how do you expect others to?”
Great, now I’m getting beauty advice from a flying ‘flank cartoon’. “But how do you know I’m lonely?” I asked.
“oh c’mon, your eyes speak all kinds of volumes, and I could tell from your eyes that you were lonely.” he said, as he transformed back into his original form. “Anyways, aren’t you that pony who’s always wearing that black cloak all the time?”
“That’s my problem, and while we’re on it…” Before Alice could finish my thought I saw the door trying to sneak past Discord.
“YOU!!!” I shouted, before I charged towards the door, “don’t you run away from me this time.” I said as I started hitting the door.
When I was done the door had cracks all along the frame, and door. “I’m starting to think you don’t like him.” Discord said. “Anyways, why are you mad at Mr. Gryffin Door?”
“Who the hell is Mr. Griffin Foor?” she asked.
“It’s that pitiful kindling that you’re standing on at the moment.” Discord said.
“This-this thing has a name?” Alice asked.
“Of course.” Discord said, and she just glared at him. “What?”
“Nothing.” I said turning away and getting off of the door.
“Well, anyways I have something that will cheer you right up.” Discord said.
“Stop! Stop! Stop! Just stop it already! I don’t belong here, I don’t want to belong here! I just want to go home. No jokes, No ideas! No more maniacs. Thank you for trying to “help” but now I just want to go home!” Alice said. Discord didn’t say anything but nodded towards Gryffin, who opened up and I then walked through the door back into her world. Gryffin closed the door, and ran off.
I overreacted, I just wanted to go home, I wanted to find Comet. He was actually fairly nice, but it was all just too much for me. I-I’m sorry, but now I just need to find Comet. Where am I anyways, is this a different part of the Everfree forest? I asked myself as I looked around. I was on top of a cliff, with ledges, and rocks all over the place. I am concerned about Comet, I shouldn’t have left him alone. Who might have known the door would close itself, and ran away? As real as it is, it's all very hard to believe. I mean I met the Lord of Chaos, who I never expected to meet. I always thought he was a myth. Alice was about to move but then she heard a large crack, and as she looked down and saw the ledge that she was on was cracking! I tried to turn around, but it was too late. It broke off, and slid down the mountain.
Let’s scram! Alice thought as she prepared to take off, but a rogue piece of rock landed on her left wing, and the pain was beyond belief. The piece of rock I was on flipped over, and sent me flying through the air. Luckily she landed in mud instead of rock, but it was still very painful.
My wing… it hurts so much. I-I think it’s broken. I thought. Oh, now how am I supposed to get back home now? I don’t have the right to do this, but I’m left with no choice.
“GRYFFIN!” she yelled out, “HEEELP! PLEASE GRYFFIN!!”
C’mon c’mon. she thought, one last try.
“GRYFFIN!” she shouted. Oohh, this is rock-bottom.
Alice then heard some bubbling noises behind me, I thought it was Gryffin so I spun around, but what she saw wasn’t Gryffin, it was so much scarier. It had large, brown scales, and four identical heads.
It’s a hydra! she thought.
