Episode One - Portal Pals

Twilight Sparkle in Canterlot

As Equestria lies dormant, devoid of the many threats it once faced, the land relishes in its newfound freedom and peace, allowing for friendship to spring forth better than ever. Princess Twilight Sparkle, now the ruler of Equestria itself, has the sole responsibility of addressing any royal duties Princess Celestia and Princess Luna once did. This time, however, she has the help of her six closest companions; Rainbow Dash, Fluttershy, Applejack, Rarity, Pinkie Pie, and of course, Spike.

Once a moon, they appear before Princess Twilight, for their meeting deemed the ‘Council of Friendship’. Naturally, however, there are times where Princess Twilight may wish to visit Ponyville for herself, similar to how Princess Celestia would for festivals and other arrangements. In her stead, any of the aforementioned members of the Council of Friendship, as well as some of her closest and most gifted students, may fill in for her. While this is often not necessary, that is soon seen to change. This begins the story of Equestria’s newest phenomenon; alternate universes.

From high above the bustling city of Ponyville, standing on a balcony of the majestic Canterlot Castle, Princess Twilight gazes out at the landscape, taking in the sights of the verdant fields and bustling streets filled with ponies of all shapes, sizes, and colours, and savouring this time of peace and freedom that Equestria now enjoys. With a smile, she turns to her close friend Spike, who stands nearby.

"Spike," she says, "is everything ready for today's meeting of the Council of Friendship?”

“Yes they are, ma'am! I mean- Twilight!- uh, Princess Twilight!" Spike says, nervously chuckling. "I'm still getting used to that."

Princess Twilight smiles at Spike, her ever-faithful companion, as she responds, "That's alright, Spike. It takes some getting used to, after all." After a moment, she adds, "In any case, we should probably get going. We don’t want to keep anypony waiting for us." Spike nods in agreement, and the two make their way down from the balcony and into the castle.

As they walk, Princess Twilight looks out again at the city below and muses, "It's hard to believe how far our group of friends has come." The memories of their past adventures and challenges flicker through her mind, and she feels a sense of pride at how much they've grown. She’s thankful that despite their many difficulties and differences, they've always been able to stay together through it all. "I think we're ready for whatever comes next, Spike," she finally says, turning to look at Spike.

"Well yeah, Twilight! Now that you're the Princess of Equestria, what could possibly go wrong?!" he says, in a joyful tone.

Princess Twilight lets out a laugh at Spike's comment, and replies, "Not very much, it is true. But there is always the potential for some problem or obstacle to arise, even in times of peace. No matter what, we must always be vigilant."

Council of Friendship Meeting

They soon reach the chamber where the Council meeting is being held, and the ponies that comprise it are standing together and welcoming them. The ponies present are Fluttershy, Rainbow Dash, Rarity, Pinkie Pie, and Applejack. Twilight Sparkle and Spike stand before them, and the five bow politely. Twilight appears to look at them all with a confused expression, yet is clearly amused.

"I already told you ponies that you don't need to do that every time we get together like this. I might be the Princess of Equestria now, but that doesn't mean I'm not ‘regular old Twilight’ anymore."

Fluttershy smiles shyly, while Applejack shakes her head and mutters, "That doesn’t change a thing," with a slight chuckle. Rarity, however, is positively beaming, and she's the one to reply first.

"But Twilight, my darling," she smiles, "how could we possibly refrain from lavishing you with all sorts of wonderful praise and adoration? After all, you do so much for us and Equestria! It's merely the least we can do."

Rainbow Dash, of course, can't help but intervene, saying, "Yeah, yeah! Okay, Rarity, I get it. Princess Twilight's super awesome, blah blah. I'm glad she's in charge, and we're all here to help her out with boring meetings, right? So can we like, get on with this thing already?" Rarity sighs while looking at Rainbow Dash, but doesn’t speak up. Twilight Sparkle nods, and looks at each of them individually, before beginning her speech.

“Well then, there’s no time like the present, right? Spike, my to-do list?” she says, looking at Spike expectantly. Spike is clearly caught off-guard, but shakes his head a few times.

“Of course! One sec, Twilight!” he responds, before quickly flying off, headed for an adjacent room. Twilight, in his absence, continues.

“While Spike is gone, how about we all share what we’ve learned about friendship since our last council meeting? I think it would be quite-” Just as Twilight's words hang in the air, a sudden, deafening explosion rocks the room. The windows rattle, and the entire castle shakes as a shockwave sweeps through. The explosion sends books and objects tumbling from shelves, filling the air with a chaotic whirl of paper and debris. The ponies scramble to regain their balance, their faces a mix of surprise and concern.

Twilight, recovering from the shock, lowers her hoof from her head and takes a moment to assess the situation. Smoke curls from a scorched mark on the wall, and a few singed pages float gently down to the floor.

She blinks, her voice laced with a mix of incredulity and urgency, saying, "What in Equestria just happened?" The rest of the ponies look around at each other, completely clueless, with Pinkie Pie shrugging. In the corner of Rainbow Dash’s eye, she sees a bright green glow from one of the windows, and reveals it to the group.

“Uh… T-Twilight? You might wanna take a look at this.”

Twilight glances towards the glow, her eyes narrowing as she slowly approaches the window. As soon as she sees it, she immediately notices something that sets her jaw even tighter, her voice taking on an extra air of determination as she turns back towards the group.

"That glow..." she whispers, "I think I know what it is."

Her eyes dart quickly towards Rainbow Dash, who promptly turns away and says with a nervous smile, "...what is it?" Twilight thinks to herself for a moment, before revealing something to the group.

"A while ago, I remember finding an old book about different worlds, or universes to be exact, completely separate from our own. It explained how it was possible to travel between them, but it took an extreme amount of energy to do so," she explains, while pacing back and forth in front of them.
"I thought that was all nothing but ponytales, so I left it in the restricted archives in case I ever needed it. But... it's real?" She blinks a few times, and glances at each of them. "It can't be... can it?" she continues, with a clearly worried facial expression.

Ponyville Explosion

Meanwhile, in Ponyville, a cloud of smoke billows forth, intermingling with swirling streams of vibrant green light that inundate the vicinity. Nearby ponies and other creatures scatter in haste, overwhelmed by the spectacle. A wave of panic takes hold, causing a handful of stands and objects in the vicinity to crumble under the unexpected turbulence. Gradually, the commotion subsides, unveiling the presence of a towering, humanoid figure.

As the mist fades, faint facial outlines emerge, yet the mysterious identity remains concealed. Soon after, they become clearer, revealing their origin. With an intriguing yet uncertain appearance, and a deep, thoughtful gaze, the figure studies their surroundings. It's evident that this being is unlike any creature from Equestria or its known realms. Brown hair flows smoothly alongside penetrating brown eyes. An air of mystery veils his true self. Draped in a combination of primary black and red-lined attire, he exudes a captivating contrast. A similarly coloured backpack completes his design. Suddenly, the individual perks up, with a curious, yet gentle voice.

“What… is this place?” They begin to carefully observe what has occurred, in an attempt to piece together anything they can. “Did it really work? Is this… an alternate universe?” they question, taking in their surroundings, with no clear ideas coming to mind.
“I suppose there’s only one way to find out. I wonder what kind of lifeforms are in this world, if any?” He attempts to look for anything of clear importance or value, and notices a larger building in the distance, which now appears to be desolate. After some consideration, they decide to visit, believing it may be the best place to get any information from. It’s a white structure, with green striped patterns along it, and a hay-coated roof.

It’s clear that anything that may have been here had recently fled the scene, evident from the spilled cups and knocked over tables. Despite this, they believe it’s their best option given the circumstance, and head towards the entrance.

“Hello? Is anything in there?” he asks, not expecting a response. “I’m not here to hurt you if there is. I’m just here to ask some questions.” It’s clear that even if anyone or anything is inside, they have no intention of leaving.

“Strange…” he says to himself. “It’s way too quiet for a town like this. There has to be an explanation…” In that moment, he overhears a voice far into the distance. It’s hard to determine exactly what was said, but pieces of it can be put together into coherent words. Despite this, nothing can be seen in the direction it originated.

Seconds later, a rainbow can be seen across the sky, followed by a loud bang, creating a circular wave of energy in the middle of it. He thinks to himself as to what it could be, but comes up completely blank. Confused, he proceeds to look for any possible clues as to what this new, strange world could be, and why it appears both lively as could be, and completely desolate.

Upon an investigation, he notices that one of the tables has a piece of clothing on it, with a mostly pink shade, and a few sparkly decorations across it. He picks it up to inspect it further, only to see it’s completely different from the clothing he would ever find at home.

“This is… rather strange, to say the least. It almost looks like that which a pet would wear. Even still, it’s rather large for one. Four legged… a dog, perhaps?” Deep in thought, he's suddenly interrupted by a rustling nearby. Before he’s able to turn around, that which caused it appears behind him.

The First Encounter

"Um… hello?" its voice quivers slightly, a mixture of shyness and genuine interest. "Are you... lost? I don't recognize you, and I've lived in this area for a while." He immediately turns around to see a yellow-coloured pony with wings standing there, having a pink curled mane, three butterflies on their flank, and long eyelashes. He’s unable to respond, and doesn’t move, frozen with concern. The pony takes a hesitant step forward, her eyes filled with concern as she observes the speechless stranger before her.

She lowers her gaze, her soft voice barely above a whisper as she continues, "I... I didn't mean to startle you, I’m sorry. I just thought, you know… maybe you needed some help?" Her delicate wings tuck in slightly, their natural shyness beginning to take over again, causing her to shift her weight from one hoof to the other. She musters a gentle smile, trying to put the newcomer at ease. As a result of this, he slightly speaks up.

“What… are you, exactly? You’re nothing like what I expected to be here.”

Her smile remains soft and understanding as she responds, her voice carrying a soothing tone, "Oh, I-I'm a pony, and there’s a lot of us here in Ponyville. My name is Fluttershy, and I take care of the animals around here." His expression immediately changes to that of both fear, and confusion.

“A… pony? And there’s… more of you? How are you even… talking?” Fluttershy's demeanour remains calm and patient, her empathetic nature shining through even in the face of the stranger's fear and confusion.

She takes another gentle step forward, her voice soothing, "I understand this might be a lot to take in, and I'm really sorry if I frightened you. We ponies have our own world, Equestria, where we live alongside all sorts of magical creatures. And, well, magic has a way of making things possible that might seem impossible in your world. That's how I'm able to talk to you right now. At least… I think that’s what’s happening,” she explains thoroughly, attempting to relieve the individual of any worry they may have.
“Twilight said something about ‘alternate worlds’, and… I assume that’s why you’re here." Her kind eyes meet his, offering reassurance. He’s completely awestruck, neither of them removing the lock of eye contact they have on one another.

“Let me get this straight… you’re a talking pony, and there’s even more of you… and you all just so happened to build this entire village?”

Fluttershy nods gently, her voice carrying a touch of enthusiasm despite her natural shyness, with her replying, "Yes, that's right. Equestria is home to many different kinds of ponies, each with their own unique talents and abilities. It's a wonderful and magical place, where friendship and kindness are always around." Her gaze remains warm and inviting, inviting the stranger to share in her world.
"If you'd like, I can show you around and introduce you to some of my friends. They're all very kind, and I'm sure they'd be very excited to meet you." She takes her time to observe the person, and thinks for a moment, before speaking to him.
“If I might be so forward… What are you? You somehow seem familiar, but...” He looks down, investigating as if he has somehow become foreign to even himself. Soon, he returns his gaze on her, unsure of how to respond.

“Well… in the world I’m from at least, I would be called a ‘human’. We’re a rather smart species, and have a lot of things that make us special.” He looks at her more closely, with a hint of curiosity. “Might I ask… why exactly are you the only one here, anyway? Did something happen to the rest?” he adds, curious as to the situation. Fluttershy looks around, and her wings shiver slightly, as if remembering something.

“Oh, goodness… I completely forgot about that. I got so caught up in meeting somepony new that I hadn’t even asked.” She returns her glance back at him, in a nervous tone.
“Um… did you happen to see a green glow a few moments ago? It’s just that Twilight said we should see what it was, and…” her expression shows that of anxiousness, and she looks at the ground, moving a hoof along it. “Sorry, I know that’s a strange thing to ask somepony who just got here.”

His attention piques, and he almost immediately responds, “Was it that visible? Really? No wonder everyone else left, they must have been terrified!” Fluttershy's reaction is almost immediate, a subtle jump escaping her as she processes the information he just shared. She looks up to him with a curious demeanour.

“Y-you… know about it?” Suddenly, she’s notably more interested, and her restraint has vanished.
“Oh, did you see what happened? Were you there? Oh, please, please, tell me everything!” she quickly continues. Soon after, another voice, completely different from Fluttershy’s, is heard. Strangely, it sounds a little familiar, as if he’s heard it before; this time, however, it’s easier to understand, appearing closer than ever.

"Fluttershy? Where are you? Did you manage to find anything?" The voice carries a gentle yet assured tone, each word meticulously articulated. Strangely, a completely separate sound is heard following it, this time a lot more confidently and profoundly.

“I bet she’s not even here, Twilight. You know how she gets when stuff like this happens!” Upon the second voice’s reveal, Fluttershy’s face becomes a lot more afraid, and she peers behind herself to see if anything is there, not saying a word. Moments later, a group of five completely separate ponies is seen appearing from amidst the village, heading in the direction of the individual, and Fluttershy. Fluttershy notices, and quickly runs behind him, attempting to hide herself, despite being very clearly still visible.

“Oh, dear! I didn’t think they’d come back so soon! Please, don’t tell them I’m here!” she states, unaware of her lack of cover. As the group approaches, she begins to shiver more, not saying a word. Soon after, they’re all standing before him, each of them looking completely different in their appearance. The figure in the center steps forward a few paces, and is the first to talk.

The Mane Six

“So… I believe you might have some idea of what happened, isn’t that right?” The pony standing here exudes an air of regal elegance. Her lavender coat carries a hint of royalty, shimmering under the light. Flowing indigo locks cascade down her back like a waterfall of twilight. Her eyes, a deep and thoughtful violet, reflect a keen intellect and an affinity for understanding. Her cutie mark, a symbol of knowledge, rests proudly on her flank, a testament to her insatiable curiosity and passion for magic. With an aura of poise and authority, she stands as a guiding presence among her companions, driven to uncover the world's secrets. A graceful tiara adorns her head, underscoring her noble lineage.

Despite the clear opportunity for conversation, the human stands, speechless. The situation they’ve been put in completely discourages them from speaking, instead leaving them in nothing but a frenzied gaze. The pony, however, is eager.

“I would have thought something of your stature would be able to speak, or at least show some kind of reaction. You are a human, aren’t you? I’ve learned a lot about your kind.” She looks over to Fluttershy, who hasn’t moved since.
“If I didn’t know any better, I’d think you’d hurt our friend. Fluttershy, what are you so afraid of? I mean really, you do know how to greet a friend, don’t you?” Fluttershy almost immediately stops shivering, and instead slightly peers from behind him to the pony. They, however, take a few more steps forward.

“At least, I would hope for you to be one. With the amount of chaos we’ve had recently, I think we all deserve a break.” She looks up at him directly, and smiles.
“I know whatever happened was a result of you, but it clearly wasn’t your fault. Still, if a single pony like yourself can cause something like that to happen…” She takes a moment, lightly laughing to herself. “Well, let’s just say I know there’s more to you than meets the eye. I would certainly hope you aren’t an enemy, anyway.” She takes a final step towards him, and raises her right hoof upwards.
“My name is Twilight Sparkle, and these are all of my friends. Who might you be?” She stands patiently, expecting a return in her actions. A short time passes, and he decides to place his own right hand atop her hoof, and shakes it a few times. After looking around at each of them individually, he responds, albeit with difficulty.

“Liam… That would be my name. A lot simpler than it appears your own would be, but… that seems to be the least of our worries. In any case, yes, I am in fact a human. I’m surprised you know that.” The pony, now deemed Twilight Sparkle to the individual, stares, amazed.

“So you really can talk? In that case, we have a lot to cover. Spike, get me my-!” she turns to her side, only to see the ground. She almost appears embarrassed, but continues on. “Oh, right. Spike is still at the castle.” She then turns back to him.
“That’s okay, I’m nothing if not spontaneous. Alright, then. It appears we’ll have to do this the normal way. But…” she looks over to Fluttershy, who hasn’t moved much since. “Fluttershy… could you please come out from over there? There’s nothing to be afraid of. Besides, don’t you want to make a good impression on… Liam?” she continues, smiling sheepishly at him. Fluttershy slowly emerges from behind him, and nervously trots over to the group, looking down the entire time. Twilight Sparkle, once she reaches, looks back over to Liam.

“Now, then. Would you all care to-”

Another pony commands attention with vibrant energy, sporting a cyan coat that mirrors the endless sky. Their wind-swept mane and tail create a colourful spectacle, trailing behind like streaks of a rainbow caught in motion. Sharp and confident eyes reflect unwavering determination, mirroring their resolute spirit. A lightning bolt cutie mark graces their flank, proudly symbolising their affinity for speed and fearless ventures. Their stance exudes athleticism and camaraderie, embodying their role as a bold and adventurous friend. Flying overhead the group, they intervene.

“The name’s Rainbow Dash! Equestria’s fastest flyer, the coolest pony around, commander of the wonderbolts, and, uh… and don’t you forget it!” She wields a confident pose, and does a forceful kick, before returning to their original stature. He views her in her entirety, both amazed at her forwardness, and confused as to how to address it.

In the midst of the spectacle, another presence captures his attention. A pony of refined elegance steps gracefully forward, their pristine coat shimmering like polished pearls. Each movement exudes a sense of poise, as if they were dancing even while standing still. A lustrous mane and tail cascade like silk, embodying a sense of timeless beauty.
Their eyes, adorned with an enchanting sparkle, hold a keen perception that seeks out the finest details in life. A delicate cutie mark, depicting three gemstones, speaks of a remarkable flair for creativity and design. Every gesture and expression carries an air of sophistication, hinting at their unwavering commitment to the pursuit of elegance. As the moment unfolds, she steps forward with a charming smile.

"How absolutely delightful to make your acquaintance, darling," she declares, her voice a melodious blend of warmth and refinement. With a graceful flourish, she extends a hoof in a genteel greeting. "Allow me to introduce myself. I am Rarity, a connoisseur of beauty and the arts of fashion. It is my pleasure to welcome you to our simply marvellous group." He looks at the pony, deemed Rarity, and takes a moment to admire her beauty, completely stunned. Before long, he raises his right hand once more, albeit more nervously, and shakes her hoof, gently. It’s evident that she enjoys it, as she smugly shakes her hair from her visage, and smiles at him.

Amidst the exchange, a burst of exuberance fills the air, drawing his attention to a pony who seems to radiate boundless joy. Her coat, a lively shade of pink, matches the hue of her infectious spirit. A curly, cotton-candy mane bounces with every step, as if each strand has a mind of its own. Her eyes, wide and twinkling with mischief, seem to hold a never-ending well of laughter. A cutie mark depicting three colourful balloons reflects her innate talent for spreading cheer and delight. Every movement is a dance, every word a playful melody, as she embraces life with a joyful abandon that's truly infectious. The air around her seems to vibrate with energy, as if the very universe can't help but respond to her irrepressible enthusiasm. With a sudden, theatrical entrance, she hops forward, her voice a symphony of excitement.

"Well howdy-doo! I'm Pinkie Pie, the best at throwing parties and making everypony smile!" Her introduction is punctuated by an exuberant hop and a confetti explosion that seems to materialise out of thin air. "And speaking of parties, I've got a feeling that today is about to become the most fantabulous party of all time! Woo-hoo!"

It’s clear that this pony, Pinkie Pie, is the most excitable of the group, wasting no time in their greeting. That, combined with their bright colours, makes them impossible to miss. They appear to be standing there giddily, shaking in their position, staring directly at him. Before he gets the chance to say or do anything, another pony steps forwards, making their own entrance.

Amidst the vibrant commotion, a figure exuding a sense of unwavering authenticity catches his eye. Their coat, the warm hue of golden apples in the sun, hints at a deep connection to the earth and its bounties. A well-maintained, blonde mane and tail exude a practical charm, a testament to a life of hard work and determination. Their eyes, clear and steadfast, mirror the honesty that seems to flow through every fibre of their being. A cutie mark showcasing three ripe apples speaks of their dedication to family, tradition, and the land they call home. As the hustle subsides, Applejack steps forward with a warm smile.

"Howdy there! The name's Applejack, and 'round these parts, we value hard work, honesty, an’ good ol' fashioned apple farmin’. It's a real pleasure to have ya joinin' us.” Her voice, as rich as the orchards she tends, carries a note of welcoming sincerity. With a firm hoof extended, she offers a handshake that's as solid as her character.
"If ya ever need a friend you can count on, you know the gal to come to."

It would appear that this particular pony, Applejack, is a rather polite and yet confident individual, refraining from being the first to make their introduction, and yet being completely open in their personality. He looks at them for a few moments, then once more raises his right hand and returns the gesture, shaking their hoof. Their expression retains their confidence, but a smile brushes across their face as it happens. He takes the time to look around, expecting another introduction, but strangely nothing happens. After waiting, he takes a step backwards, giving himself room from the collective group.

Before he perks up, a light “ahem” appears from Twilight Sparkle. Suddenly, they all look at the pony referred to as Fluttershy, who immediately starts to quiver and lower her head into her left wing. “Come on, Fluttershy. You’ve introduced yourself to plenty of ponies before! Why is this different?” Twilight says, placing her hoof onto Fluttershy.

“It’s… not the same.” she responds, almost inaudibly. She’s seen nervously moving a hoof along the ground, not wanting to look back up. Applejack intervenes, facing towards her.

"Come on now, Fluttershy. We've met all kinds of ponies here in Equestria. Ain't no need to be shy. Just be yourself, and remember, we're all friends here."

Fluttershy's quivering gradually subsides, her gaze still fixed on the ground. Her delicate wings fold tightly against her body, as if seeking protection. The atmosphere carries a sense of gentle encouragement, an unspoken understanding that wraps around her like a reassuring embrace. It takes her time, but after a while she lifts her gaze back up to him, and gently smiles.

“M-my… My name is… F-Fluttershy…” Nervously, she lowers her head once more, unable to continue. Twilight Sparkle gently embraces Fluttershy, reassuringly.

“It’s okay, Fluttershy. And… thank you.” She then returns to her original place, directly facing Liam.
“As you can see, we’re a rather… interesting group of ponies, but I think you’ll get to like us. If you don’t mind, though, I do have some questions for you. Starting with, well… the obvious.” She takes a step towards him, with a somewhat stern, yet endearing face.
“If I’m not mistaken, you had some involvement with the green glow, and, well, explosion that happened earlier. What do you know about that?” It’s clear that she’s awaiting some sort of answer, and doing so is difficult to summarise. Regardless, he attempts an explanation.

“Well, you see… From my own world, we’ve been experimenting with the concept of travelling to alternate universes. For a while, nothing came of it, and we assumed it was simply not possible.” He paces around, zoned out of the context of the situation, instead passionate about the subject, while continuing with a well-spoken tone.
“Of course, that was clearly not the case here. We decided to try out a particularly experimental procedure, one that would certify whether or not what we said was true. It just so happens that I was the ‘test subject’ for such a thing.” Twilight's expression shifts, absorbing the information as she processes his explanation. Her brow furrows slightly, a mix of curiosity and concern evident in her features.

"An experimental procedure to traverse alternate universes…" her voice trails off, her mind clearly working through the implications. "But what led to the green glow, and explosion?" He takes a moment to gather his thoughts, focusing on relaying the details.

"The procedure involved a device, a kind of gateway generator. When activated, it was meant to create a temporary rift between dimensions, allowing for brief exploration. However, something went wrong during the activation. The energy readings were off the charts, and as the rift opened, it caused an unstable release of energy, resulting in the flash and explosion." Rainbow Dash, with a sceptical expression, cuts in, her voice tinged with impatience.

"Uh… can you like, put all that in normal words? My brain's getting all tangled up with the kooky sciencey stuff." she follows, with a visible ‘crazy’ expression with her hooves.

As she says this, he sighs, before responding, “Big portal opens, too hard to do for long, device stops working, portal explodes.” Rainbow Dash's eyes light up with comprehension as his explanation simplifies.

"Oh, got it! So, you were messing with this fancy portal thingy, it went haywire, and boom! Portal goes blamo! That about sums it up, right?" He nods with an amused expression.

"Sure, something like that."

Pinkie Pie bounces in excitement, her curiosity piqued, as she exclaims, "Kaboom, huh? That sounds like a party I wouldn't want to miss!" Applejack chuckles and gives Pinkie Pie a head shake.

"Now hold on there, Pinkie. We're talkin' 'bout a portal goin' haywire, not a celebration. This ain't no kind of party you'd wanna be a part of.” Twilight is seen staring blankly, and quickly shakes her head a few times.

“...Anyway, it’s nice to know that it was a harmless thing.” She looks behind herself, then back. “Well… mostly harmless, anyway. It’s… fine, we can fix everything eventually.” He lightly smiles back, knowing he resulted in said mess, but a thought suddenly occurs to him.

The Catastrophe

“Oh, wait a minute…” he frantically feels over himself, looking for something. “Please, don’t tell me I lost it.” The effort to find it escalates, and the ponies all become worried and confused.

“What were you looking for? Did you drop something?” Twilight asks, being the most interested.

“By chance did any of you find a remote at all? Long rectangular thing, buttons on it? Anything like that?” he queries the group, with visible panic brewing on him. They all shake their heads, not saying a word. He sighs to himself, returning to his normal stance.
“That… can’t be good. They’ll probably be wondering what’s going on by now, and it’s gone?

Twilight speaks once more, this time with a more worried voice, saying, “What’s gone? Was it something linked to the portal you mentioned?” He silently nods, considering what the repercussions could mean.

“It would appear I have indeed lost the device which allows me to open the portal to travel to alternate universes. Worse yet, I don’t have a full grasp on how it even works, so I wouldn’t be able to make another one.”

Pinkie Pie, surprisingly, jumps from the group and creates an exaggerated gasp, before calling out, “No way! That’s super-duper mega bad! Like, almost as bad as when I forgot Twilight’s birthday cake bad!” She looks over to Twilight, giving an embarrassed smile, before returning her gaze.
“Hey! Maybe we can find it for you! What’s a teensy little remote got on all of us?!” she follows, cluelessly posing on the spot.

“No, I… don’t think that’s how it works, unfortunately. Thank you, though.” he says, attempting to clear himself of panic. “Although I can’t exactly stay here, either…” Liam looks over to Twilight, hoping for something. “Say… with that crown on your head, I’d wager you’re a relatively important person - or, uh… pony - here, aren’t you?” Rainbow Dash barges forth, poking her face directly at him.

Relatively important? You have no idea! Who you’re talking to is none other than the Princess Twilight, ruler of Equestria!” He shakes his head, completely taken aback.

Princess? Nobody mentioned that to me earlier.” Twilight speaks up, looking at Rainbow Dash, lightly pushing her backwards.

“And I would appreciate if we kept it that way, Rainbow.” She looks back to him, sighing, before continuing, “But yes, I am in fact the ‘Princess of Equestria’, as it’s now deemed. It’s still feeling like way more than I can handle, but at least I have my friends to help.” She tilts her head, curiously.
“Why did you point that out, anyway? Was there something I could help with?”

He thinks to himself, considering for a moment, replying, “By chance might you have any knowledge on technology? I don’t know… books, that sort of thing?” Suddenly, Twilight’s face lights up, and she jumps with joy.

Books? Somepony wants some of them? Oh, you have no idea how good it is to hear that! It’s been so long since-” Applejack puts her hoof onto Twilight, making her realise how zoned she was on the subject. She responds with a sheepish laugh.
“Sorry, I guess I got a little carried away… But really, to not only have a completely new pony here in Equestria; a human, as well as a crazy explosion happening here, and for you to want to use some of the books we have stored in Canterlot? This feels like one crazy day! I’ve seen humans before, but this is completely different!”

Liam looks at Twilight, with a slight smirk, then saying, “Right… I suppose I would feel the same way if I were in your position. Ponies suddenly appearing, talking, and saying they have proof of magic? In any case, would you mind taking me there? To… ‘Canterlot’? Not to be a bother, especially given what damages I may have caused, but I don’t exactly think I can leave otherwise.” Twilight's eyes sparkle with a mixture of excitement and intrigue.

"Of course! I'd be more than happy to take you to Canterlot. It's not every day we have a visitor from another world, especially one with an interest in books and our history." She turns to the group, a newfound determination in her voice. "Alright, everypony, let's gather ourselves and head to Canterlot. We have a lot to discuss! Besides, I bet Spike is wondering where we’ve went by now."

The Trip to Canterlot

As the seven are seen walking Liam through Ponyville towards Canterlot, Pinkie Pie decides to break the silence with her natural antics.

“So Twilight, why don’t you use your magic to just take us back, anyway?” Pinkie Pie says, cheerful as ever. “You’re getting pretty good at that!”

Twilight quickly responds, knowing exactly what to say, with, “Well, Pinkie, it’s not that simple. Our friend here, being from a different universe and all, might not experience magic the same way we do. If I just tried it on them without testing it, who knows what could happen!” With that, his attention is piqued.

“I’ve noticed you all saying ‘friend’ a lot while referring to me. Why is that, exactly? Back where I come from, making friends wasn’t nearly that simple.”

“Well," Twilight begins to explain, before Pinkie Pie, wearing her signature grin, interrupts energetically, “It's because you're the super-duper fun new pony in town! And I'm on a mission to make friends with every pony I meet! And believe me, I've got a pretty good record!” Twilight chuckles, joining in on the fun.

“Pinkie has a knack for befriending anypony and everypony. But what she's saying is true. Friendship is highly valued in Equestria, and connecting with others is a big part of what brings joy to our lives. Even though we've just met, we’ll treat you like any other pony here.” There's a hint of hesitation in Fluttershy's expression, though she doesn't say anything. Meanwhile, Applejack's inquisitive nature shines through.

“So tell me, 'Liam'. If friendship ain’t at the top of your priority list, what is?” It’s clear the question was that of curiosity, but it appears to really get to him.

“Well… that’s a good question, actually. I didn’t really think about it. In my world, people make life whatever they want it to be, and go from there. Sometimes it’s friendship, and sometimes it’s something completely unique and new.” He pauses, contemplating his own words as they hang in the air. Applejack regards him with an earnest expression, her eyes reflecting a mix of understanding and curiosity.

"So, what you're sayin' is, in your world, folks don't put as much stock into makin' friends as we do here?" He nods, appreciating the chance to explain.

"Yes, that's one way to put it. In my world, life can be quite different. People have their own paths, goals, and aspirations. While friendship is important, the way it's approached and valued might not always be the same as it is in Equestria. For a lot of people, friendship simply isn’t something that they’re interested in, or at least making a big deal of."
The rest of the ponies look around to one another, with a unified "ah!" and collective nodding following.

The group continues walking towards Canterlot, sharing snippets of Equestria's rich history with Liam. Despite the unfamiliarity of Liam's new and strange world, the ponies exude a sense of camaraderie and genuine curiosity. There's an air of adventure about them, as if every moment holds the promise of discovery.

"I do apologise for the long walk we've had to take, Liam," Twilight remarks with a warm smile. "Normally we would have taken the train, but we've been experiencing some issues with it lately. At least it gives us time to get to know you better, though. That’s something… right?" Fluttershy chimes in, her gentle voice carrying a sense of reassurance.

"And don't worry, Liam. We're here with you every step of the way."

As they walk, Twilight occasionally points out notable landmarks, sharing snippets of history and lore. Applejack chips in with stories of the land's hardworking farming communities, while Rarity elaborates on the elegance and beauty of Canterlot. Pinkie Pie interjects with lively anecdotes, ensuring that the journey is anything but dull. Fluttershy takes a moment to point out the delicate beauty of a butterfly fluttering by.

"Even the smallest creatures in Equestria have their own stories to tell," she mentions with a fond smile. Twilight nods in agreement.

"Indeed. Every part of Equestria has a unique tale, and being here allows us to experience them firsthand." As the ponies share their world with Liam, his initial uncertainty begins to transform into a sense of wonder. The stories and conversations flow effortlessly, weaving a tapestry of friendship and discovery on this unexpected journey through Equestria.

Canterlot

After a long amount of time spent walking, the group finally arrives in Canterlot. The city's towering spires and majestic architecture never fail to impress, even for the ponies who call it home. As they approach the grand entrance, Twilight turns to Liam with a smile.

"Welcome to Canterlot, Liam. It's the heart of Equestria, a place of history, culture, and friendship." Liam gazes in awe at the intricate designs and regal atmosphere.

"It's… incredible," he says, his voice tinged with wonder.

Once inside the city, the ponies guide Liam through bustling streets and charming markets, offering explanations and anecdotes along the way. The journey is peppered with animated conversations and the occasional laughter, making the experience both informative and enjoyable. As they reach a familiar building, Twilight's eyes light up with recognition.

"Ah, here we are. This is where we hold our Council of Friendship meetings. As a matter of fact, we were in the middle of one when we saw the explosion that you… never mind."

Council of Friendship Room

Entering the room, the memories of countless meetings flood back for the ponies, each corner of the room holding a shared history of their adventures. Spike, the little dragon who often serves as Twilight's assistant, is busy rummaging around the room, his snout buried in piles of scrolls and papers. The sudden sound of approaching footsteps catches his attention, and he quickly turns to face the door.

“Twilight! You’re back!" Spike's voice is filled with both relief and mild reproach. "I thought something happened to you! You left without saying anything. What happened?” Twilight offers a reassuring smile to her dragon friend.

"Sorry, Spike. I didn't mean to worry you. There was a bit of a situation that needed our attention. But don't worry, we're all safe." Rainbow Dash swoops in with a playful grin.

"Yeah, Spike! Twilight's always got things under control!" Spike, meanwhile, looks around, noticing Liam for the first time.

"Hey, who's this?" he questions, unsure of the new arrival, with a curious expression on his face. Twilight kindly introduces Liam with a warm smile.

"Spike, this is Liam. He's a visitor from another world.” she says, using her hoof to point at him. “Liam, this is Spike, my number one assistant and one of my best friends." she continues, returning the gesture to Spike. He blinks in surprise, looking intrigued by the newcomer.

"Another world? That's... different. And we’ve got so much going on here, it’s hard to keep track of!" he replies, full of energy from the interaction. Liam can be seen giving a friendly wave to him as Spike says this.

"Yeah, it's… a whole thing. I’m sure Twilight could explain it better than I could." He blinks twice, realising something.
“Wait… what are you, anyway? If I didn’t know any better, I’d think you were a-” Spike interjects, bravely posing before him, with a confident smile, and a chuckle.

“A dragon? I know; pretty cool, right?!” he says, dropping the to-do list he had in his claws. Twilight glances at him, and he nervously laughs in response, picking it back up.
“Aaaanyway, it’s nice to meet you… Liam, was it?” Twilight steps forth from the group, heading towards the center besides Spike, and looks back at the others.

"Now, then. I’ve already assigned ponies to help fix the damages to Ponyville that happened, and I have no reason to believe anything will happen again." She gazes at each pony and person, a smile on her face. "And with that said, I believe there’s nothing else to do but to return to our Council of Friendship meeting. Spike?" She glances at Spike, who hands her the to-do list. Using her magic, she holds a quill and ticks off a few boxes, talking to herself aloud.

"Clean up the room… check! Everyone’s here… check! Bring in the…" she pauses, lost in thought. Then, she looks up at Fluttershy, clearly confused.
"Fluttershy, where’s Discord? My head is still so caught up in this whole ‘Princess of Equestria’ thing that I completely forgot about him." Fluttershy appears nervously smiling, rubbing a hoof on the ground.

“Oh, well… Discord told me that he was planning on having a little… fun in the Everfree Forest. I told him that as long as he didn’t disturb the animals, he could not be a part of this one. You don’t… mind, do you?” she responds, in a soft voice. Twilight sighs, but her expression remains considerate.

“No, it’s... fine. It’s probably for the better, anyway. One word of portals and he’d become a disaster." A thought suddenly occurs to her.
“Now that I think about it, Discord might know something about the device Liam used. Fluttershy, do you think you could see what Discord has to say while I take Liam to the library?” Fluttershy smiles and nods, leaving the room.
“Wonderful. Spike, stay here and make sure things stay as they should. As for the rest of you, I think we might have to delay this Council of Friendship meeting again. As much as I’d love to get it finished, our friend here really should have a way of getting back home. Even if they can, they’re always perfectly able to come back any time they’d like.” She looks over to Liam, her smile bright. “Wouldn’t that be nice?” Applejack speaks up, her tone thoughtful.

"So what should the rest of us do while you're taking Liam to the library, Twilight?" Twilight considers for a moment before responding.

"I think it would be best if Rarity, Pinkie Pie, and yourself meet me on the empty grounds outside Canterlot. We'll figure out our next steps from there."

Rainbow Dash, ever impatient, adds with a grin, "And I’ll make sure things go well with Fluttershy. I bet she wouldn’t want to miss out on seeing what happens!" Twilight chuckles at Rainbow Dash's enthusiasm.

"Sounds like a plan. Let's all meet up there after a while. And don't worry, we'll find a way to help Liam get back home." She looks at him, her determination clear in her eyes, before saying, "We're in this together." The group nods in agreement, each pony showing their own brand of support. With a newfound sense of purpose, they start to disperse, each going their separate ways to prepare for what is to come next.

Canterlot’s Restricted Archives

The restricted archives in Canterlot appear shrouded in darkness as the two are heard stepping inside, the air heavy with the scent of aged parchment. Just as the obscurity threatens to swallow you whole, a faint light source flickers to life, revealing row upon row of ancient bookshelves laden with dusty tomes. The room seems to radiate with the weight of history, its walls adorned with faded tapestries and cracked paintings. Yet amidst the worn appearance, there's an undeniable aura of knowledge and discovery, as if the books themselves hold the stories of generations.

Twilight Sparkle, standing beside him, speaks up to him, saying, “Nopony really comes down here seeing as the books kept inside aren’t ever of use, but something tells me you just might change that.” She walks towards the sets of bookshelves, all of which dusty and slightly worn. Using her magic, an array of books flick through their pages, remaining mostly in place. Amazingly, it would appear she’s reading through all of them at once. Not long after, she pulls a book from amidst them all.

"Aha! This one is perfect!" Twilight says, her eyes lighting up as she pulls a book from the shelf. "‘Alternate Universes - A Pony’s Guide to Understanding’!" She glances toward Liam with a friendly smile.
"Well, that was simple enough." With the book in her magical grasp, she flips through its pages, inviting Liam to come closer.

"As you can see from these pages here, the concept of alternate universes was documented before, but it was deemed too difficult to certify. Nopony would have dared to engage in such a thing, so it would have been left down here with the rest. But it seems that this time, we don't have a choice." She taps a diagram with her hoof, her expression growing contemplative.
"There's something about this portal that reminds me of the one you created with your ‘remote’." After a brief moment lost in thought, she snaps back to the present.

"You know, I just realised something. The reason your portal had failed could be a result of the magic in our world. It's possible that the combination of magic and technology from our respective universes created some sort of unexpected reaction." Her horn glows with an indigo light as she carefully places the book into Liam's hands. With determination in her voice, she continues, "I know exactly what to do now! Let's regroup with the others and see what we can do to help you, Liam!"

Canterlot’s Exterior

As the two reach Canterlot’s exterior, a large, grassy open area is present before them. Applejack is the first to greet them upon their arrival.

“Howdy, Twilight. And howdy to you too, Liam. We were wonderin' when you two would finally make it out here.” She gives a warm smile, embodying her down-to-earth friendliness. As Liam and Twilight approach the group, Rarity's eyes light up with a spark of excitement.

"Oh, darling, I must say, I quite adore your choice of attire. It's simply delightful!" She gestures towards Liam's outfit, her voice carrying a genuine appreciation for fashion and style.

Before Rarity can continue with her fashion commentary, Twilight chuckles softly and interjects, saying,"Rarity, we can talk about Liam's outfit later. Right now, we need to focus on the situation of getting him home." She gives a pointed look to Rarity, who responds with an apologetic smile and a nod of agreement.

"Of course, Twilight dear. The matter at hoof is our priority."

As the group exchanges understanding glances, the distant sound of flapping wings draws their attention. Fluttershy and Rainbow Dash emerge into view, flying side by side with their wings gracefully beating against the sky. Fluttershy's mane ruffles gently in the wind, and she seems to be speaking softly to Rainbow Dash as they approach. They land in front of the group, with Rainbow Dash's confident grin fading into a more serious expression.

"So, uh, we talked to Discord," she begins, her voice carrying a mixture of intrigue and mild exasperation. Fluttershy chimes in, her tone gentle and soothing.

"Yes, and he actually knew something about portals. He said he's encountered them before in his... um, adventures." Fluttershy gives a brief, apologetic smile, as if she's unsure how to put Discord's escapades into words. Rainbow Dash rolls her eyes at Fluttershy's hesitation and continues.

"Yeah, and he mentioned something about a 'dimensional rift' or whatever. Said he once pranked the Everfree Forest with one, but he doesn't really remember the details." She folds her wings against her sides and shrugs, looking somewhat dismissive.

Fluttershy, however, clears her throat gently and adds, "Oh, but he managed to find something, too." With a soft smile, she holds out her hoof, presenting a broken-looking device that immediately catches Liam's attention. Liam's eyes widen in surprise as he rushes over to Fluttershy.

"That's it! That's exactly what I used to get here!" His gratitude shines through as he embraces her, repeating his thanks with genuine warmth. Fluttershy, blushing softly, pats his back gently before stepping away, her shyness evident in the way she carries herself. Twilight nods appreciatively as she listens to Fluttershy and Liam's exchange, before she turns her attention to her friends.

"So that's what you used to get to our world, Liam? Well, that certainly makes things a lot clearer." Her expression shifts from curiosity to determination as she addresses her companions.
"Now, girls, I need you all to be prepared. This might be risky, but if we're going to send our new friend back home, I'll need to wield some of the strongest magic I've ever conjured." She turns her gaze to Liam, offering a reassuring smile.
"Could you please place the remote on the ground for me? I promise to handle it with utmost care." Though Liam seems hesitant, he ultimately complies, before rejoining her side.

Twilight's horn begins to glow again, this time radiating a significantly brighter light. The effort is evident on her face as she channels her magic for this challenging feat. As she focuses her magic on the remote device that rests on the ground before her, the air around them seems to hum with energy, as her aura envelops the broken contraption. At her command, the remote begins to glow softly, a sign that her magic is taking effect. Liam and the ponies watch with a mix of anticipation and hope.

But then, something unexpected happens. The gentle glow of the remote intensifies rapidly, its light shifting from the familiar green to a fiery red. A deep rumbling sound fills the air, growing louder by the second. The ground beneath them vibrates with the force of the growing energy, and the ponies instinctively move closer to Twilight, their expressions a mixture of concern and readiness.

As the red glow reaches its peak, the remote suddenly explodes with a burst of energy, and a surge of red light engulfs the area. The ground shakes beneath their hooves, and a portal begins to form before them, its crimson hue pulsating ominously. A low, guttural growl emanates from the portal, sending shivers down their spines. The air is charged with an eerie tension, and the ponies exchange worried glances. Twilight steps forward, her determination unwavering despite the unforeseen turn of events.

"Everypony, stay close and be ready for anything." she commands, her voice firm but steady. She raises her horn once again, channelling her magic to stabilise the portal and prevent any further disruptions.

The portal continues to grow, its red energy swirling with an almost chaotic intensity. As Twilight concentrates on her magic, she can feel the resistance of whatever force is on the other side, pushing against her efforts to control the portal. Beads of sweat form on her brow as she exerts herself, her horn glowing with a radiant light as she fights to maintain her hold.

Yet, despite her valiant efforts, the portal's power grows unchecked, its size increasing with each passing second. The swirling vortex of crimson energy seems almost sentient, eager to unleash whatever lies beyond. The air is charged with an otherworldly tension, the very fabric of reality seeming to waver in the portal's wake.

As the portal stretches wider, a deep, shadowy figure begins to emerge from within. The darkness within the portal seems to cling to this figure, obscuring its form as it steps forward with an unnerving deliberation. Long, tangled hair, as black as the void itself, shrouds its hulking frame, and its limbs are gaunt and stretched. Its eyes burn with a malevolent red light, piercing the darkness with an unsettling glow.

The creature's body is an enigma of darkness, shifting and swirling as if defying the laws of physics. Jagged, obsidian spikes jut from its shoulders and elbows, scales plating its back, giving it a menacing and otherworldly appearance. Its hands end in three sharp claws, each glinting dangerously in the eerie light.

As the figure fully emerges from the portal, the air itself seems to grow heavy with its presence. Its form stands tall and imposing, a testament to its otherworldly power. It remains motionless for a moment, its malevolent gaze fixated on Twilight and the ponies.

Twilight's grip on the portal falters, her magic struggling against the overwhelming force that the creature exudes. She can feel the weight of its dark energy pressing against her, testing her resolve. Beads of sweat mix with her fur, her breathing strained as she fights to keep the portal from fully destabilising.

The Creature Appears

The ponies stand in a protective formation around Twilight, their expressions ranging from concern to determination. Applejack's jaw is set, her hat casting a shadow over her determined eyes. Rarity's gaze remains unwavering, a reflection of her unyielding spirit. Pinkie Pie's usual cheerful demeanour is replaced by a focused intensity, while Fluttershy's determination is hidden behind a mask of quiet strength. Rainbow Dash's wings twitch restlessly, ready to spring into action at a moment's notice.

As the portal continues to fluctuate, and the enigmatic figure stands before them, the Council of Friendship’s members find themselves facing a new and mysterious threat - one that they know less about than their newest companion, Liam.

As the Mane Six brace themselves for an unforeseen predicament, Liam's eyes scan the surrounding environment, searching for any possible advantage. The glint of determination in their gaze hints at a plan forming, though its specifics remain shrouded in mystery. Meanwhile, Rainbow Dash takes the initiative, her signature boldness propelling her forward to confront the enigmatic foe head-on. Little does she realise the nature of the challenge that lies before her.

With a confident thrust, Rainbow Dash launches herself at the creature, her aim true and her determination unwavering, with a loud “hyaaaaaa!”. But as she reaches the shadowy figure, an unexpected twist occurs - the colourful pegasus passes right through the entity, her attack proving utterly ineffectual. A resounding roar of frustration echoes from the creature, its anger palpable.

It lunges forward, its ominous silhouette charging with an unsettling intensity. Panic ripples through the group, and their well-practised unity momentarily falters as they scatter in different directions, each pony seeking safety from the oncoming threat. The once-cohesive formation now disperses in disarray, the urgency of the situation clear in their eyes.

In the midst of the chaos, Liam's mind races, piecing together a hasty yet determined plan. Their gaze darts around, searching for a specific ally among the scattering ponies. When their eyes lock onto Twilight Sparkle, Liam's urgency heightens, and he swiftly approaches her with a hushed whisper. Twilight's brow furrows with curiosity, leaning in to hear Liam's words. Nodding in understanding, she gives Liam a determined look before raising her voice to catch Rainbow Dash's attention.

"Rainbow Dash, get back here!" Twilight's authoritative shout rings through the tumult, halting Rainbow Dash's frenzied flight. She banks in mid-air, her cyan wings beating with controlled strength as she swiftly returns to the group. She lands beside Twilight and Liam, her sharp eyes narrowing in anticipation. Twilight takes a deep breath, her expression resolute yet concerned.

"Listen up, everypony! We need to work together if we're going to overcome this. Liam has a plan, and we're going to put it into action." She gestures to Rainbow Dash and Liam, both of whom stand ready.
"Rainbow Dash, you and Liam are going to distract the creature, and I'll use my magic to create a barrier to protect them both." Her gaze shifts to Rainbow Dash, seeking her consent. Rainbow Dash's determination shines through her features, and she grins confidently.

"You got it, Princess! I've got no doubt our new friend here knows exactly what he’s doing. If he can say fancy words like Rarity does, it’s gotta mean something." Her wings flutter with resolve, and she exchanges a nod with Liam. Liam meets Rainbow Dash's confident gaze with a reassuring smile.

"Let's do this," they say, determination evident in their voice.

As Rainbow Dash takes Liam into the heart of the battle, Twilight's magic envelops them in a protective shield. The ethereal barrier shimmers with a translucent glow, deflecting the creature's furious assaults as they get closer. The creature's snarls and growls echo in the air, its frustration at being unable to reach its elusive prey palpable.
Twilight maintains her concentration, her horn glowing with the intensity of her magic.

"Hold on tight, you two! I won't let it touch you!" she shouts, struggling to keep herself steady.

Rainbow Dash expertly navigates through the chaos, leading Liam closer to the creature. The shield quivers under the force of the creature's attacks, each impact causing it to weaken slightly. But the barrier holds, its protective energy standing strong against the relentless assault.

With a final, furious lunge, the creature manages to strike a powerful blow against the shield. The barrier crackles and flickers, its integrity compromised by the creature's relentless assault. Rainbow Dash's wings strain as she fights to maintain control amidst the onslaught. Seeing the shield falter, Liam knows this is their chance.

Rainbow Dash's voice cuts through the chaos, exclaiming, "Hold on, Liam! Get ready!" With a burst of speed and agility, Rainbow Dash manoeuvres Liam into position. She uses her own momentum to propel him forward, directly onto the creature.

Liam's heart races as he finds himself atop it, its dark form writhing and thrashing beneath him. Drawing upon their own unique nature as an entity from another world, Liam's balance remains steady as they grab hold of one of the creature's scales. With a swift, determined motion, they wrench it free.

The scale glistens in Liam's hand, a shimmering fragment of the creature's essence. Their fingers tighten around it, a sense of determination coursing through them. With a deep breath, they focus on the task at hand, the memory of their plan guiding their actions.

Summoning all their strength and willpower, Liam channels their energy into the scale. It pulses with a radiant light, its energy growing more intense by the moment. With a swift, precise motion, they position the scale against the creature's form, just as they had envisioned. The scale glows brilliantly as it makes contact, its magic reacting with the creature's dark essence.

In an instant, the scale's energy flares to life. A blinding burst of light erupts from the point of contact, creating a jagged tear in the creature's form. The tear glows with an otherworldly energy, revealing a vulnerability that had been hidden beneath the creature's ominous exterior.

As the creature roars in pain and fury, the tear widens, exposing the weakness it harboured within. Its struggles grow more frantic, its dark form writhing and convulsing. The other ponies watch in awe and anticipation, their hope reignited by Liam's courageous actions.

Rainbow Dash, ever the quick-thinker, springs into action. With a powerful flap of her wings, she shoots forward and catches Liam mid-air, ensuring their safety as they descend to the ground. Her flight is steady and controlled, a testament to her unwavering determination to protect her friends.

The group quickly gathers around the tear, their gazes locked onto the exposed weak point. Twilight steps forward, her horn glowing with a brilliant light as she channels her magic. Beside her, the rest of the ponies are seen glowing with the unique energy of their previously destroyed Elements of Harmony, now using the power of their respective elements within themselves.

Together, they pour their magic into the tear, their combined efforts creating a radiant burst of rainbow-coloured energy. The creature's struggles intensify, its form convulsing as it battles against the onslaught of magic. The tear pulses with each surge of power, its ethereal edges crackling with energy.

As the magic reaches its crescendo, a brilliant shockwave of light radiates from the tear. The creature's roars reach a deafening pitch, its form flickering and contorting as if caught in the grip of an unrelenting force. And then, with a final, resounding burst of energy, the creature's form collapses in on itself, its essence dissipating into the air. The group stands united, their expressions a mix of relief and triumph.

The ponies gather in a jubilant celebration, their cheers and laughter filling the air with infectious joy. Amidst the revelry, Liam finds themselves lost in thought, contemplating the extraordinary turn of events. This experience is unlike anything they've ever encountered, a testament to the boundless unpredictability of Equestria. As the festivities carry on, Twilight Sparkle approaches Liam with a warm smile, her gratitude evident in her eyes.

"Liam, I want you to know that your presence here made all the difference. Equestria is truly grateful for your bravery in helping us banish the interdimensional creature."

Fluttershy's soft voice interjects, a touch of regret colouring her words, saying, "I’m sorry I couldn’t have been more helpful to you, Liam. Normally creatures are a lot smaller and I’m perfectly fine, but… that t-thing? It…" Applejack and Rarity stand by Fluttershy's side, their support unwavering. Applejack places a reassuring hoof on Fluttershy's back.

"Don't go blamin' yourself, Fluttershy. We all did our part, and we did it together." Rarity nods in agreement, her voice gentle and kind.

"Indeed, darling. It was a team effort, through and through."

Liam finds comfort in the camaraderie surrounding them, the genuine care and unity shared among friends. While the situation was undoubtedly daunting, the bonds forged and the lessons learned are an invaluable part of their journey. And as the celebration continues, the harmony of friendship resonates, reminding Liam that even in the face of the unknown, they are never truly alone.

Shortly thereafter, Liam is seen scouring the environment for something - the remote. It's clear that it was destroyed during the ordeal, and they appear to be struggling to accept it. Walking alongside them, Twilight provides reassurance.

"Don't worry, Liam. I'm sure the two of us can find a way to get you back home soon enough. Besides, my friends and I would absolutely love to have you with us in Equestria!"

The other five ponies overhear the heartwarming conversation and gather around Liam, forming a circle of camaraderie. They take turns speaking, expressing their gratitude and admiration for Liam's courage and quick thinking.

Fluttershy smiles gently and says, "You were so brave out there, Liam. I'm really glad you're okay."

Rainbow Dash gives them a friendly nudge and grins, "Hey, you've got some serious guts diving into danger like that, Liam. Not as much as me, of course, but still! Welcome to the team!"

Applejack tips her hat with a warm smile, "You sure know how to handle yourself in a tight spot. Equestria's lucky to have you around. Thank you kindly for your help, Liam."

Rarity offers a genteel nod, "You've shown true heroism today, darling. It's a pleasure to have made your acquaintance. I do hope this isn’t the last time."

Pinkie Pie bounces energetically, exclaiming, "Is that all?! None of you mentioned how super-duper awesome amazing spectaculartastic all of that was! Liam was just the icing on the yummy cake!"

Their heartfelt words of appreciation swell into a collective cheer, the ponies' unity a testament to the friendship that binds them. Amid the celebration, Spike trots over, looking slightly puzzled.

"Hey, what's all the cheering for? Did I miss something?" he asks, scratching his head.

Twilight chuckles and wraps her arm around his shoulder, "Spike, you have no idea. Let's just say Liam here played a key role in saving Equestria."

Spike's eyes widen in surprise, and he turns to Liam with a confused expression, asking, "No, really. What happened?" With a jovial laugh, they all welcome Spike back. Liam faces all six of them, now aligned against one another, and begins to talk.

“I often believe that I know most of what there ever is to know, but you all showed me that even when you think you know everything, there’s always more hiding just out of reach. That’s something I have you all to thank for. Even though I might know a lot about my own world, it appears there’s so much more I’ve yet to even begin to learn. It would appear the first step would be understanding the true value of friendship.” As Liam finishes speaking, Spike can be seen in the background scribbling furiously in a book, not yet titled and blank in cover, his eyes intent on the task.

With a mischievous glint in his eye, he follows, with a tone of humour, "The first one's free, but you've gotta do the rest of ‘em yourself, Liam." Twilight Sparkle, ever attentive to the essence of learning, is quick to recall Spike's comment.

She turns towards Liam and kindly adds, "That reminds me, I hadn’t even told you about that. We all used to keep a Journal of Friendship where we wrote down the lessons we learned about friendship. It was a wonderful way to remember and reflect, and was even a key part of our adventures at one point.”
She ponders to herself for a moment, before her eyes light up with an idea, saying, “Maybe we could start another one? This time, exploring the possibility that friendship is not only an important part of our lives, but something that exists not only in our world, but in others, as well. Something that almost appears… always present. We could name it… the Chronicles of Harmony! A tribute to what were once our Elements of Harmony, which we now possess inside all of us." Liam's face lights up with gratitude and understanding.

"You’d let me be a part of that? That would be wonderful, Twilight! I would absolutely love to," he replies, appreciating the sentiment of being involved with what appears to be his new group of friends, keeping him company during his newly appeared time in Equestria.

The group, with their newfound sense of camaraderie, have one final cheer all together. The scene wraps up in a heartwarming tableau of friendship and togetherness, the magic of Equestria's bonds stronger than ever, and their new friend, Liam, to thank for it. On this day, Liam learned that Friendship is Magic.
